The Commentary by Veenstra-VanderWeele et al.1 is most persuasive in its call to combine clinical and research training within child and adolescent psychiatry (CAP) fellowship programs. The field is wide open, and anyone with the appropriate training as a physician-scientist will be able to make a valuable contribution. As Veenstra-VanderWeele and co-authors directly imply, broadening the number of clinicians armed with research training will naturally increase the number of published case reports, reviews, and clinical studies thereby generating the synergy that will in turn improve the care of children and adolescent with mental illness. — Excerpt from Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Read More
