Partnerships with CMHCs

Community mental health centers (CMHCs) provide a vast array of mental health services to individuals within their local communities.

From therapy, counseling, psychiatric assessments, medication management, and other means of support for individuals dealing with various mental health challenges, CMHCs strive to work with clients from all walks of life to address a variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders.

Some CMHCs focus on specific demographic groups, such as children, veterans, or individuals experiencing homelessness. At Integrated Psychiatric Consultants (IPC), we believe these centers play a crucial role in promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and ensuring that individuals can access the support they need to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.

CMHCs usually have a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, and case managers. A partnership with IPC can help CMHC care providers work collaboratively to deliver comprehensive care, with a strategy tailored to the size, services, and population of the community.

How can IPC help?

We are more than just a staffing company. IPC is a behavioral health management group with over 5 years of experience serving community mental health centers, currently providing services at 6 out of 26 CMHCs in Kansas alone. As your partner, IPC is dedicated to empowering your organization to help you meet community health goals.

To support your CMHC in enhancing your behavioral health team, we offer:

  • Leadership support
  • Integrated care strategies
  • High provider retention rates
  • Economical pricing (compared to other national organizations)

Leadership support

Providing quality care is a top priority for CMHCs, and attracting and retaining skilled staff members plays a crucial role. To ensure that staff are up-to-date with the latest practices and techniques in the field of mental health care, CMHCs prioritize continuous training and professional development opportunities. As your partner, IPC makes it easier for your organization to build an efficient and effective behavioral health team. IPC offers a flat leadership structure with a national reach that makes it easier for an organization to invest in a partnership, find solutions, and maintain a close relationship throughout the implementation process, with adequate follow-up.

If your organization requires specific expertise or skill set, our team works closely with you to ensure a successful provider placement. IPC works collaboratively in addressing organizational needs with the right providers. We work diligently to combat provider burnout and increase retention through supportive administrative services, taking care of training, supervision, credentialing, licensing, and more, including medical directorships and on-call consultations.

Integrated care strategies

Nearly 70% of our partners are not-for-profit, so we understand the drive to identify high-quality providers. That’s why we honor our work with CMHCs to foster long-lasting partnerships and alleviate shortages in care. For over 5 years, IPC has serviced CMHCs by implementing integrated care models. Our providers are integrated into the organization as though they are any other staff member in order to incorporate collaborative care and MAT services for managing chronic conditions, in addition to psychiatric services. We equip organizations with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other behavioral health clinicians to make your vision a reality.

Over two decades, IPC has developed connections with acute, residential, and outpatient treatment programs. Through these partnerships, we are prepared to support inpatient psychiatry and outpatient behavioral health services, as well as therapy and psychological assessments, as needed. Our connections with hospitals,  residential settings, and other facilities across the nation make it easy to facilitate higher levels of care when necessary. With high-quality providers passionate about client satisfaction, our practice caters to the needs of community organizations of all sizes, at all levels of care – including CMHCs. Our philosophy is to work closely with clients, their families/guardians, and community providers to achieve the best possible treatment outcomes.

High provider retention rates

IPC is devoted to recruiting and retaining passionate and mission-oriented providers who serve our community. Our behavioral health management group serves clients across the lifespan, utilizing telepsychiatry and on-site services in a variety of practice areas.

Our care team is composed of 75+ providers, including:

  • Board-certified/board-eligible adult, child and adolescent & addiction psychiatrists
  • Board certified psychiatric nurse practitioners
  • Master’s level and clinically-licensed therapists
  • Psychologists and neuropsychologists for specialized testing and competency assessments

IPC care providers have over 100 years of combined clinical experience, with skill sets covering a full spectrum of psychiatric disorders and mental health and substance use conditions through strong community partnerships. Our providers are diversely experienced, coming from all walks of life and backgrounds, familiar with home-based and onsite treatment, and devoted to serving our rural and urban settings.

We retain over 95% of our care providers and 97% of our healthcare partners, allowing for continuity of care. IPC is capable of working with any partnering educational institutions with whom the CMHC is already affiliated, to retain locally trained graduating psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners. This initiative helps providers advance in their careers while staying local and true to their home community.

Economical pricing

CMHCs play a crucial role in making mental health care more accessible and affordable to people in need, especially those who may not have private insurance or the financial means to seek self-pay treatment. These centers often receive funding from federal, state, and local government sources to help maintain their operations, as well as relying on donations from members of the community to sustain their programs. Accordingly, adequate funding is essential for CMHCs to maintain operations, hire skilled staff, and offer a wide range of services.

In partnership with Wheat State Healthcare, IPC has an opportunity for single-source contracts with all CMHCs across Kansas, allowing for a competitive pricing structure for the following services:

  • General adult psychiatrists
  • Child and adolescent psychiatrists
  • Medication-Assisted-Treatment (MAT) providers
  • Psychiatric nurse practitioners
  • Master’s level and clinically-licensed therapists
  • Psychologists for a variety of testing needs

As your partner, IPC is fully dedicated to helping your CMHC build a highly efficient and effective behavioral health team for an affordable cost, without taking away funds from the people who need it: your clients.

A final word from a local partner

Behavioral health is health, and IPC embodies this mentality at its core. Throughout the United States, millions of individuals are impacted by mental illness every year. With how prevalent mental illness is, it is imperative that organizations, whether directly in the behavioral health field or not, develop a deep understanding of wellbeing.

As a large physician-owned group, we are dedicated to helping other organizations meet their community health goals, including a transition to the CCBHO model. By proactively addressing provider burnout with supportive administrative services, IPC creates a balance between the needs of providers and partners.

Proud to call Kansas home, IPC values our locally-rooted connections throughout the Midwest. We deeply value providers who tirelessly serve community mental health, as evidenced by our exceptional provider retention rate of over 95%.

It is on everyone to be a part of breaking barriers, raising awareness, and advocating for better options and opportunities for individuals relying on community mental health. CMHCs are the backbone of serving the underserved, and IPC aims to continue our efforts to ensure high-quality, accessible care whenever, wherever, and however they need it.
